| The AS-350BA Ecureuil is a variant of the AS-350B Ecureuil, using the same engine and airframe, but with an increased maximum takeoff weight and equipped with main rotor blades
of the AS-350B-2 Ecureuil (originally developed for the AS-355F Ecureuil II). In North America, this model is commonly known as the AS-350BA AStar.
The AS-350B Ecureuil can be upgraded to an AS-350BA Ecureuil in field.
Soloy, LLC has an STC (SH3324NM) to retrofit a Rolls-Royce 250-C30M engine to this airframe, re-designating the model as AS-350 AllStar. This retrofit improves reliability and lowers operating and maintenance costs.
Soloy, LLC also has an STC (SR00805SE) to retrofit a Honeywell LTS101-600A-3A engine as part of its AS350 "SD1" kit.
Heli-Lynx Helicopter Services, Inc. in Stoney Creek, Ontario has an STC to retrofit a Honeywell LTS101-600A-3A or Honeywell LTS101-700D-2 engine on this airframe for overall increased performance and a "350FX Systems" STC (mainly a re-engineered electrical system), which is installed as part of a package along with the engine. This package installation is named the 350FX1 mod (LTS101-600A-3A engine) or the 350FX2 mod (LTS101-700D-2 engine). In 2010, Heli-Lynx introduced the 350FX2T mod, which includes a Generation X re-engineered electrical system packaged with the installation of a new 3600-hour TBO Turbomeca Arriel 1D1 "Plus" engine.
